We were treated like family guests. We had private use of the internal onsen (hot bath), The water was freshly changed so was so hot I could hardly get in but had a lovely time anyway and it was cool enough the next morning for a dip. The host is available to drive you to the nearby Monkey Park which is the main reason for visiting Yudanaka which is a great saving. It is a traditional ryonkan so ignore the "foyer" which is not much. The room was extremely comfortable with fresh green tea on arrival and I had my best night sleep the whole holiday on the tatami mats.
Recommended, Recommended, Recommended ! a wonderfull hospitality in a charming Japanese style hotel, located 5 Km from the snow monkeys park. They have their own little onsen, WiFi in every room. You can chose between Japanese and western breakfast. The owner is a super friendly guy, and they give you a lift to the snow-monkeys park entrance and to the nearby Shibu Onsen .
Great hosts! They did everything to make my trip special! This included driving me to Monkey Park and to rotenburo. Ownership worked very hard to make sure all guests were taken care of! I will surely return!
The hotel manager and his family were amazingly nice and helpful The food (Japanese meals) were delicious The hotel was very quiet The onsen was so relaxing
Absolutely nothing, everything was great
The owners speak great English and really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. We received a free lift to the Monkey Park and to/from a beautiful private onsen (spa) that they booked for us. In fact, the whole village is filled will friendly, beautiful people. I highly recommend a trip here.
The rooms are small and services basic but you know you're not booking 5 star.
The friendly hospitality and delicious Japanese dinner with reasonable price and can book private onsen which great
The baht room has no shampoo and lotion,
We were only able to stay one night but we were made incredibly welcome. i doubt that you could find a friendlier ryokan anywhere. We were also given private use of the onsen which was wonderful.
This is the loveliest place we stayed in Japan. Mr and Mrs Yumoto were absolutely brilliant - nothing was too much trouble. They upgraded us to en suite for free because thy had a room available, they took us to nearby attractions by car, helped us find restaurants and even gave us a little gift when we left. We were so grateful to them for their hospitality that we even bought them a box of chocs to say thanks.
Everything. The staff was the most friendly and accommodating I have ever met. The breakfasts offered were a delicious taste of authentic culture. The ryokan was exactly what were were looking for in tradition.
Wonderful host - the owner was like our very own chaffeur. He picked us up from the train station (a nice surprise!) and drove us just about everywhere we wanted to go during our stay. He was also great in recommending things we could do in Yamonouchi and places to eat etc. The ryokan/rooms were traditional - there was an old feel to it but everything was clean and comfortable (though it had modern comforts like TV and A/C). We were also very lucky to have a private bath in their onsen, which was nice. A wonderful stay.
We liked the room, the facilities, the breakfast, even west or japaneese style. Ichiro and his family are very kind people. He took us to the Monkeypark, recommend us to do the Shibu Onsen stamp collection and for ended the day in a very explendid way, he took us to a marvellous rotemburo in the mountain to see the sunset. If you ask him for whatever, he will help you and advise you. 100% recommended.
japanees hospitalety owner had anwers on all our questions..sometimes even befor wecould think of the question
Traditional ryokan accomodation with extremely helpful obliging hosts. Excellent Japanese breakfast. Tradtional onsen bath in hotel. Very interesting area, lots to see and do and close to snow monkey park.
The owner is extremely friendly. He and his family would help with anything! Whether it was a ride with our bags to the train station, giving us rubber boots so we wouldn't dirty our shoes or pants during the Monkey Park hike, and accommodating us for our meals, Shimaya Ryokan was excellent. Our room was spotlessly cleaned daily. Again, I cant' reiterate how helpful the owner was; he even gave us maps to the next town we travelled to. His advice for skiing Shiga Kogen was spot on!
Wonderful hosts, relaxing onsens, amazing snow monkeys nearby!
